Good morning from the crew of Adina!<\/p>\n

Day 3 we experienced some light to moderate winds and kept east to try and stay with the wind. Out West there is little wind. Sea legs are now in place and Gareth and Tom rigged the spinnaker pole so we could ‘goose wing’. For our non-sailing friends this means sailing dead downwind (wind right behind you) with one sail to the one side and the other sail to the other side. No sooner had they done this and the wind direction changed and the pole wasn’t needed! Such is life.<\/p>\n

We then deployed the ‘towable generator’ which is a long line with a propeller at the back of it which you throw in the water. The propeller spins the line that works with a dynamo to generate electricity. Adina needs a lot of power!<\/p>\n

Throughout the day we tried our best to use what wind there was gybing south.<\/p>\n

\"IMG_6077<\/a>Dinner involved a sausage stew made for us by Richard Plume using sausages from John the Butcher in Northwood, England who Yacht Adina has voted makes the best sausages in the world! Wish we could fly in more.<\/p>\n

Night time came and the wind really dropped – we’re trying not to use the engine but Adina is a heavy boat and needs wind. Come 6am we gave up as we weren’t moving and the engine is now being used.<\/p>\n

Susie and Lindsay are looking after the boys keeping them fed, clean and tidy. Today is ‘Scrub the Crew’ day which means everyone has to have a shower – we have hot water so it’s going to be enjoyed! The boys are growing beards – Neil started over a week ago and is already looking a little like a pirate. He’s worried when we get to St.Lucia that his baby may not recognise him and get a fright!<\/p>\n

The answer to who our synchronised swimmer was is Susie! She used to be a talented synchronised swimmer before taking up sailing. Today’s question is who once served the Queen??<\/p>\n

So with light winds forecast for today and tomorrow we’re motoring. Next week looks light too so we may have to pull into the Cape Verde islands for fuel. But the fishing rod is out and today we are fishing!!<\/p>\n
