Another early morning departure sneaking out of the reefs to allow us to arrive with the sun in the right spot. 30 nautical miles, 5-6 hours of sailing. Today’s trip required even more navigation attention as there were a few narrow gaps and some underwater reef to avoid. Added to that the wind was shifting somewhat, it was close-hauled sailing (getting as close to the wind as a yacht possibly can) and we really had to be nailing our waypoints. Sometimes your heart ticks a little faster. But it does make time go faster and we’ve got a good system going, always talking the navigation through. Added to that the scenery is beautiful, lush mountain-lined coastline, small islands scattered on the water. Susie thought she had spotted a cargo ship and so one island was duly named Cargo Ship Island!<\/p>\n
Coming in to Snug Harbour, we soon understood its name – a calm tranquil bay protected by three islands. It was stunning, really stunning. Quiet, the odd wooden rowing dugout goes by, fluttering palm trees, empty white beaches, all to ourselves. It feels so remote, unspoilt. Snorkel, relax and then a French boat messes up your day by deciding to share this big bay with you!<\/p>\n
We’re staying put for a day, need to give Adina some love and care after her Caribbean Sea crossing, snorkel, relax, hope a fisherman comes by, enjoy it a little.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
