OCC Award of Merit

Amongst everything else going on, we received a lovely email saying we have been awarded the Award of Merit from the Ocean Cruising Club shared with others for helping out in Vanuatu after Cyclone Pam last year.
We are very humbled, we honestly don’t expect this sort of thing. To us this award is received on behalf of the many of you who gave generously and did so much for the people of Vanuatu. To have stood in front of those people in need who couldn’t quite believe their eyes and say “These are gifts from people all around the world who care” was a moving experience we shall never forget.
In turn we would also like to thank and praise the Ocean Cruising Club who did such a wonderful job in sharing information, rallying the media and encouraging fellow yachts, who similarly came to help.

Congratulations Tom and Susie and all those who share the Award of Merit this year. You made such a difference in the lives of the good people of Vanuatu. Well done! We are proud of you and grateful to have been able to contribute a small bit to the enormous effort.
We couldn’t have made any direct difference individually without your initiative to gather and distribute our contributions directly to the people most affected. Big thanks to you both and a VERY well deserved award. 🙂
