A Boat Owners Happiest Day

Friday 1 June 2012

So two very excited happy individuals rolled into Lymington to pick up their new home, Adina!

Time wise, we had to rush as we wanted to get to our planned berth at Burlsedon before it got dark.

Handshakes all round and a big thank you to the broker Alan Mcilroy who had been a fantastic help in securing Adina. In fact I have to give Alan a bit of a big-up here. I have a bit of a sceptical outlook on brokers but he proved all of that wrong. Never rushed us, gave us lots of advice, and was just an all-round nice guy!

Engine on – ready to go. hang on – what’s that alarm… Alan…..

No longitude and latitude reading. Lots of digging around, turning things on and off. Only thing removed on the boat was the anemometer for some repairs – but that reads wind – not lat/long. An hour later as a last desperate measure Alan went up the mast and replaced it. Everything worked…

So we left scratching our heads and motored at a furious pace to our new base up the River Hamble to Universal Marina just as the sun set.

We’re now boat owners – half excited, half terrified
