It’s been a busy time recently on Adina. Fishing with Henry and Frank Our last visitors before heading across the Atlantic were the Mace family – Paul, Caroline and their three boys Frank, Henry and Stanley. Lindsay Cunningham, one of the crew for our upcoming Atlantic Crossing, is a teacher at the prestigious King’s College Junior School in Wimbledon, London. The school is taking a keen interest in Adina’s crossing and we’re informed the fleet tracker showing our progress will be shown at assembly each day so the boys can follow…

So now we’re in Las Palmas in Gran Canaria where we start our final preparation for the big one – the Atlantic crossing! It feels very real, indeed enormously exciting. Day 5 dawned breezy for us so sadly we agreed to leave the parasailor in its bag. Looking at the wind forecast it was due to back and be up our ‘chuff’ so we headed south of our rhumb line in order to come back up when the wind shifted. Of course that didn’t happen!…

A similar pattern to day 3 onboard Adina as we head to Las Palmas. Overnight we sail with a reefed main and full jib; can’t keep the rhumb line but good winds keep us moving. Around 11am, when the winds start to die, up goes the Parasailor and we helm back down towards the rhumb…
