The Plumes come for a sail

We had decided that a last 2012 sail was in order and there were still a few chores that needed doing such as install new water pumps.
On Saturday evening Susies parents joined us onboard. This was the third time they had been on the boat but not yet sailed, and subject to some good weather there were rumblings about perhaps getting out. We of course are always happy to head out for a sail – usually no matter what given we know Adina is pretty solid.
Hambles best kippers for breakfast and with fair weather all hands were raised for a sail. Of course it’s nothing like the Carribean and lots of clothes are required at this time of the year. Up went the sails and we were off. Richard took the helm and Adina was soon enjoying being out. Top speed of 7.6kts putting him 2nd on our top guest speed log. Especially good given the wind speed was only 10-12kts.
Ros has been very busy kindly making assorted cushions and winch covers for Adina and she had bought them with her. And impressive they look – we just need to wait for some sunshine to get the new cockpit cushions out!
So that was 2012 – we are now proud boat owners. It’s a steep learning curve but we have been lucky to have the help of many friends and family. 2013 promises to be even more exciting. Sail on …
