Cyclone Pam
6Friday 13 March 2015
Last night Cyclone Pam, a Category 5 cyclone, hit Port Vila in Vanuatu. We’ve had some emails from friends enquiring if we’re ok; Susie and I are actually in New Zealand right now so fortunately we are safe.
Our thoughts at this difficult time are first and foremost with the friends we have made in the country and the Ni-Vanuatu. We have been made to feel so welcome and can’t help but be deeply worried. True to their nature, messages from Vanuatu have been positive and friends look like they prepared well and are supporting each other. As one friend said “prepare for the worst, hope for the best”.
As for Adina, she is tied down in a cradle in a boatyard, stripped of everything on the outside. All we can do is cross fingers.
We are due to fly back Saturday 21st and will post updates.
Hope all is well, we’ll keep our fingers crossed. Do let us know when you have more news
So relieved you took that trip to New Zealand, spared us all some agonising worry. Now we wait to hear news of Adina. You did all you could with your planning – no-one expected a cyclone to land on you!
Good luck, I hope Adina is ok. Glad to hear you’re both safe.
Love
Kate
As they say….of all the places in all the world !!……how unlucky could you be to decide on Vanuatu for your stopover?…We are, of course, desparately sad for all the inhabitants and what they have endured and will continue to deal with as they get their lives back together. Paradise, it seams, comes at a price.
Desperately trusting that Adina rode out the storm (fortunately) on dry(ish) land and will continue to transport you both, safely across the other half of this wonderful, but unpredictable planet. Continue to take Care…….
All our love….Malcolm, Liz, Steve and Katie xxx
We are thinking of you on Laragh and wish you well with some Irish luck

Glad to hear there is positive news about Adina and that you and Tom are OK. Fingers crossed that when you return to Vila she’s in good shape. All my very best wishes for you. Ian
